http://ibcnu.us/ This site is the home of new iPhone software that allows you to use APRS on your iPhone. If you do not know APRS, Amateur Position Reporting System, allows you to track stations or objects in real time via packet and GPS and also send short text messages like you do in Twitter. However, this data is sent over the amateur airwaves on the VHF frequencies. This dat
a is also sent to the Internet via I-Gates, or stations that are also connected to the internet.
At the present time this software does not allow you to input your APRS internet ID to allow the communications to be gated from the net to RF but I did receive an email from the author saying he could add that functionality if I thought it would be worthwhile. Like! Hello! Yes it would be. You are no where near ham radio or an APRS network and you wanted to communicate with your local crew at home? There are a lot of net uses for this software. For $1.99 this is cheap if it will do all that is claims to do.
So go check out: http://ibcnu.us/ You will be directed to iTunes. If you like it tell them KG4ZXK sent you.
